
Bull Mountain Creek, coming out of the rugged hills of Alabama, winds through eastern Itawamba County before its confluence with the mighty Tombigbee on the Itawamba-Monroe county line. This beautiful waterway cuts through some of the most scenic historic areas of Itawamba County, Mississippi, including beautiful Holley Farm.
The Holley Farm wagon ride to Bull Mountain Creek is about 2.5 miles round-trip, taking approximately 45 minutes. This scenic tour follows an old farm road passing by corn fields, a pumpkin patch and a beautiful natural wetland habitat for birds and waterfowl. The tour then winds along and crosses Cypress Creek. The first stop is at a prehistoric Chickasaw camp site. The narrator gives a brief history of how the Chickasaw once used this site. The tour then follows along the banks of Bull Mountain creek as it meanders southward. The second stop is at Bull Mountain Creek where an old farm road fords the creek The narrator gives a brief question and answer session on the creek's watershed characteristics. The tour continues along the creek and stops for another session pertaining to the natural flora and fauna of the Bull Mountain Creek bottomlands, including fish tales and legends. The tour then returns by the same route as the outbound trip.
